Jola New Testament ‘Kasofoorak Kunkulak’
Bible Society in the Gambia and WEC International Gambia are delighted to announce the safe arrival of the Jola New Testament into the country.
An inauguration ceremony is being planned and this will take part in two stages:
• Saturday 3rd March 2012 in Kampant, near Sibanor, this is the heart of the Jola area.
The President of the Republic of the Gambia will be invited as he is a Jola.
Representatives from central and local government will also be invited as well as church and mission leaders, elders from local communities and the Jola population.
• Sunday 11th March 2012 will see the second event in the urban area of Serrekunda.
Bible Society in the Gambia will be holding its annual Bible Week from 5th – 11th March.
The climax of Bible Week will be held in a local church with the aim of introducing and promoting the Jola New Testament. Therefore, we covet your prayers.
Praise
• That Jolas will now be able to read God’s Word in their own language.
• For the exegete and translators who spent many years of hard work to get the New Testament ready for printing. • For the safe arrival from Korea where the New Testament was printed.
Pray
• That the Lord’s name will be glorified in these events
• For wisdom for the planning committee who are organising these two events.
• That the letters of invitation will be responded to positively
• For the practical arrangements in Kampant: seating, PA system, catering to feed an unknown number of people.
• Transport arrangements; we hope to hire some buses
• For finance to cover the budget
• For Gambia Radio and Television Services as they announce the events
• For travelling mercies for those travelling from overseas
