Here’s a bit of a catch up for April:
Spring Harvest was absolutley brilliant!! I was a part of the younger group, ages about 11 – 14. We had two sessions with them each day, morning and evening for about 2 1/2 hrs. This included talks, games, worship, prayer. My job was looking out for the young people who had come on their own, or who were sitting at the back, separate from everyone else. I’d watch out for them, sit and chat with them so that they felt a bit more part of what was happening, and a bit more accepted. These meetings were amazing, the talks were brilliant and there were a lot of young people that gave their lives to Jesus over the week. There were physical healings, gifts of the Spirit prayed for and received. It was great seeing the young people reaching out to God for themselves, wanting there own relationship with Him and not just following the crowd, or being swept up with the hype. So loved that!
There were 4 of us from ngm that went as a team. We ran a question and answer/discussion session in the afternoon for the 14-19 yr olds. There was a great turn out each day, lots of questions asked, and lots of issues brought up. The people that came really opened up, and it was such a great oppotunity to chat and pray through situations that they were going through. We also realised the importance of just being able to listen and genuinely care about what they were saying, so that could talk freely and speak out thoughts and issues that had massively been on their mind. We also ran an evening event, called ‘The Base’. This was for anyone to come and chill out, chat, play games, get to know people. Me and another guy did a bit of an acoustic set, then we’d offer drinks, snacks and would just chat and get to know the young people. It was amazing to see a lot of them really coming out of their shells throughout the week, feeling comfortable to be themselves and be accepted by each other and you could see their confidence growing as they got to know others each night. It was an amazing week and it was an absolute privilege being able to work with so many young people, and to share about God, His love for them and all he has for them.
I mentioned last time about going into prison. Sadly, the day before we were due to leave, we found out you had to be 23 yrs old. Pretty gutting! But a couple of other girls from the crew were able to go, and it went really well. So thank you for all your prayers for that!
The gig in Horsham at the womens’ conference went really well. We did songs from the shows. It was so much fun being able to perform to the ladies there. We had a great response and were asked to go back which is good. I was actually directing and leading the show through, which was quite a challenge as I was also in it, but I loved having the responsibility and being able to run with it and drive the rehearsals and organisation for it. It was a good push for me and a good practice and teaching in leadership.
In terms of next year… things are starting to fit together a bit more, in that I know the sort of thing that I want to do. It’s just making sure I’m in the right place to do it.
Prayer points for this next month:
- We have a gig in Scotand this week, leading workshops and RE lessons, performing, sharing testimonies in a couple of schools so prayer for God to speak through us, and that He’d soften the hearts of the young people so that when we speak they listen to what we have to say and not close down as soon as we start talking about God.
- I’m off to South Africa on mission next week for 2 weeks, leaving May 15th May! Really looking forward to it. Please pray that I’d be able to give all my energy into each day so that I can do as much as I can while I’m out there.
- Again, prayer for the future is always wonderful!
Thank you so much for all your prayers, support and encouragement!! It always means so much!!!
God Bless
